About Us

The Krown Rust Control Centre located in South London was established in the 1970’s by Mr. Heinz Steiert.  Heinz opened the first Rust Check centre in London on Dundas St. E. in the 1970’s.  He moved his business from Dundas St. to Unit 20 – 1116 Dearness Dr. in the early 1980’s and was one of the original Krown Dealers who started the Krown Company in 1985.  So the existing business, now located at 65 Midpark Cr. in South London, has been operating as a Krown Rust Control Centre in South London since early 1986.

Heinz and his wife, Heidi, operated the business until June of 2002.  After about 16 years at their Dearness Drive location they retired and sold the business to Elizabeth Leitch.  Liz owned the business for 2 years during which time she purchased the building at 65 Midpark Cr. and moved from what was a rented facility on Dearness Drive.  After purchasing and renovating the present building to make it suitable for a drive through Krown operation, Liz decided not to stay in the business.

Randy Taverner had been working as a Sales Representative covering all of South-Western Ontario promoting Krown’s “Body Maintenance Program” to Body Shops, Mechanical Garages and servicing large commercial fleets in behalf of the local Krown dealers, as well as participating on a regular basis in Trade Shows, Mall Shows, Farm Shows and Truck and Car Shows.  When he began working with Krown in 1995 there were 7 Krown Centres located from Woodstock to Windsor, two of which were in London.  After 10 years on the road as a Krown Rep. Servicing fleets such as City of London, London Hydro, UWO, Transit, City of Windsor and Sarnia and many smaller Municipal Salt Truck Fleets, there were 19 Krown Centres in the same area from Woodstock to Windsor.  The business had increased substantially in terms of number of vehicles sprayed and numbers of Fleets spraying their vehicles and equipment.  One of the original 7 dealers had increased their business by about 500% and all centres had experienced substantial growth in their business.

When Elizabeth Leitch decided to sell her business, Randy saw it as an opportunity to become even more involved in promoting Krown as an owner or dealer.  He purchased the business from Elizabeth Leitch and began running his own business as of August 1, 2004.  In the approximately two and a half years since, the Krown location in South London has grown by over 50%.  Recently the building and the approximately 1.3 acres of land were also purchased from Elizabeth Leitch, ensuring that Krown London South will continue at its present location for many years to come.  Our current building is  located in a prime industrial area backing onto Wilton Grove Rd. between Highbury and Wellington.

With two-thirds of the City of London for territory and plenty of room for expansion at the present location on Midpark Cr.., the London South Krown Centre is gearing up for continued growth in the years ahead.

Customer service will continue to be our Number 1 concern.  Randy’s favourite saying is and will continue to be:  “Customer Service is not a department…….it’s an attitude.”
